Combe Road Close – Deep Retrofit & First-Floor Extension, Bath

This bold transformation of a tired post-war bungalow in Bath delivers a future-proof, low-energy home for modern family life. The project includes a full deep retrofit, improving the thermal performance of the building envelope with external insulation, a timber and Bath stone re-cladding, and the integration of renewable technologies, including an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR), and solar photovoltaic panels.

The original bungalow’s layout was reimagined with the addition of a new first-floor extension, allowing for extra bedrooms and flexible family space. Ground floor living areas were expanded and opened up to the garden, creating a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors. The transformation turns a low-performing house into a high-performing home – energy-efficient, comfortable, and designed for future generations.
